"Sunday Best"

I thought I would just quickly share this page with you that I did a couple of weeks ago. I fell in love with the technique of using punched circles on a page ( from the Australian Scrapbooking Memories magazine Vol 14 No7). 

The photo was sourced from the Museum at Karlgarrin near Hyden WA. Steve's grandfather cleared land out that way when he was a farmer. However, the family left the area when the children were quite young, moving to the city. If they hadn't, you have to wonder how different a life we may all be living today?! 

The little girl is my Mother-In-Law. The old T-Ford in the background is such an icon of the day. 

I hope to have this in my Gallery this evening with some instructions on how to make these "patchwork" circles. Make sure you drop by again later! 

I simply have to get into that beautiful sunshine!

SYMPATHY

There comes a time when a family member passes away and the world seems to stop- just for a minute. 

A close friend has just lost his Dad. He has been unwell but no one expected his passing to be this soon.  

This time last week I thought I would be taking my own Mum over to Qld. Her brother is gravely ill and I offered to take my Mum to see him. Sadly, she does not feel able to travel this great distance.

Our families are precious. Take the time to be with them whenever you can! 

So I have just put this card together using a layout CASED from Denise Hobson which was a swap at Regionals about two years ago. 

This is a favourite stamp set of mine and always looks fabulous layered this way. 

(My camera isn't out of focus! It is supposed to be "shadowed".)

Colours: Bashful Blue, Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla. 

 I hope you are enjoying this glorious weather..... and on that note, I am off to spend some time in the sunshine.

Mother's Day

I trust everyone enjoyed a special few hours with their Mum or their children yesterday? I joined my parents for lunch, together with my sister and my son and husband, at the Old Coast Road Brewery in near Harvey in SW of WA. Many Mum's were cradling a bunch of precious flowers- and so was I! Thank you Bennett- you made my day feel special. 

It ended up being quite a long day because of the travel! But I am so glad we made the effort. Needless to say, we were in bed pretty early last night! My DIL travelled even further to be with her Mum. We really do need to be grateful for each day that we can spend with our Mum's. And our children! 

To all the Mother's out there.... Happy Mother's Day.  I hope you had a lovely day. Sharon

May Day! 

Today I became a Great Aunty for the second time. My nephew Nathan became a Dad again today when his partner Emma delivered baby Levigh James late this afternoon! Gosh baby news is so special isn't it?!! 

I had to think about being a "great Aunt" for a bit. My mental picture of a Great Aunt doesn't feel like it fits ME! My first Great niece turned two last week just before my own children had their birthdays. 

May is my Family birthday month. Every member celebrates something this month! My hubby has a birthday tomorrow, then it's my sister, Mother's Day, then my Dad , then my brother and then his wife! My other brother had his birthday the day after my children! PHEW! 

And guess what? I am so behind the 8 ball! Not one card made. Better get cracking!

TUESDAYS AT ARTS AND CRAFTS, Katanning WA 

Katanning Stamp & Scrap

We held a KS&S evening last Tuesday from 6pm. It was well attended and everyone was keen to continue on the Second and Fourth Tuesdays of each month. We had a pot of pumpkin soup with savoury muffins, together with Turkish bread and cheese for a light tea. The time went very quickly! 

I did have a project kit ready to go and all the ladies did this CASE'd card from Heidi Baks. Using "Rue des Fleurs" from the new Mini catalogue. 

This was my version. I loved the colours and using the Doily from the Specialty DSP, called "Flirtatious" from page 127 of the I B & C.

 I had been in Perth on the weekend and I had no time to "create" but I found this gorgeous card and it was reasonably simple. I used my circle scissors to cut the circles. I am so glad this tool is getting some use! 

I have a couple of kits left over, so let me know if you would like to try this card. I shall try and remember to pack them for next time.

To the ladies who made this card I hope you enjoyed it. One lady used 'Bravo Burgundy' from the Regals inks to stamp the umbrella image and it was VERY effective.

Hole in One

Yesterday my hubby had a Hole in One! Made his day! He has only been playing golf for about 2 years and has a rahter high handicap, so this was so exciting for him! 

Congratulations Steve! 

Meanwhile, after my nanna nap, I got creative and did some scrap booking at last!

Friday Frenzy! 

Domestic Bliss.............

Well, this is my "day off" when I get to do my other important job "at home"! You know, the washing, housework, cooking and cleaning. Then when it's all done, I can "play"!

 I have been trying to find a site in Australia that may be able to help me out with a spare part for an 'injured' Big Shot. I am beginning to realise how far behind Australia is in certain product lines! I cannot locate a "spare parts supplier" for Sizzix. I have a friends Big Shot in parts on my kitchen table whilst I Google some answers for it's injury! Alas.... I have failed. Never mind, Stampin'Up! have already replaced her Big Shot machine (once you have one, you can't live without it!!) but we decided we may be lucky enough to be able to repair the broken BS. If you own a BS.... take a tip from me: DO NOT FORCE A SANDWICH THAT IS TOO THICK THROUGH YOUR BIG SHOT. It will break it! The working parts are solid as! But if you force the handle, it breaks. 

If you borrow someone elses Big Shot, then please take care. They are tough but NOT invincible. 

OOO WWAAHHH! Lets hope I can get it back together again! 

Anyways, I have cooked up Butter Chicken Curry as well as the rice and a Beef Casserole for my In-Laws. I have also whipped up a Roast Pumpkin Soup with Bacon for tea on Tuesday night (Katanning Stamp & Scrap group first week night crop night). I have yet to make up my Tacco mix for tonight. Better get my skates on.

My floors are clean and my washing is almost dry, despite the chilly air. All sounds mundane really but I have actually enjoyed my Domestic role today! Must be the bootscooting lessons that have got me energised!

Easter break with my family! Each morning starts with a walk along the beautiful beach with the dogs. Because we live so far inland, we never tire of this and always think how lucky we are to be able to enjoy W.A's coast. The dogs, of course love it more than we do! Louey joined us this Easter and he just does not have an OFF button! After a walk with us he went for a run with his owners before playing fetch! I bet he sleeps for the rest of the week!!

On Sunday, we walked down to the Flametree Winery and bought some wine, cheese, bread and yummy Caramalised Balsamic dressing for lunch.  Deliscious! What more could you want?

The weather was PERFECT all of Easter! We swam, paddled (in our Kayaks), walked, read our books in the sun, fished (caught whiting), chatted, threw the ball for the dogs (their favourite pass time after walking on the beach), napped & generally lazed on the beach enjoying the lovely weather. We know it won't be long before there will be a change and winter will be with us.

On The Road Home......

On our way home we stopped and snapped this picture of the "letter" boxes on the road side between Boyup Brook & Donnybrook, WA.  A novel way to recycle microwave ovens!
